Wilsonville on Wednesday

A while ago a lady told us that the best place to meet people was in the laundry and we just proved it to be true.
Dick and I were stuffing our stuff in washers when this gal came in with a Harley t-shirt on and spiky hair. One thing led to another. A few little dropped comments by us both and we'd spotted another Christian.
They'd recently moved back to the Portland area from Redding CA. Her husband races Harleys at the PIR (thus the t-shirt) and has been looking for a job in the health engineering field but was having trouble, mostly because of his age. We shared Todd Taylor's testimony about getting his dream job, the words he'd been given going in to the interviews about being a protector, being called to the job and writing the book.
She was excited and told us that they had been involved in Bill Johnson's church in Redding. I mentioned that I'd taught a couple of his books in my Bible study a few years back, When Heaven Invades Earth for one. She shared some miracles she'd witnessed and heard about like the little girl whose parents were signing organ donation forms when she opened her eyes on the operating table and said "hi" and we shared a few that we'd heard about, like my nephew-in-law praying for the Cambodian man who died in a car accident who came back to life.
What a great way to do the laundry! God is good and he's good to us.

Sunday, October 27, 2013

High noon October 25, 2013 we said goodbye to our home on Jackson Road in Canby, Oregon.

When we moved there in 1987 we had two children, a dog, a cat, a sizeable herd of cattle and several trailer loads of home furnishings. We were excited about the prospect of 28 acres that was all ours. We spent any number of Sunday afternoons walking the property lines and thanking the Lord for blessing us beyond our wildest dreams.

Here's an aerial view of our place taken some time in the 90s. The white spots are cattle and Dick can tell you their names, of course. The back pasture, about 12 acres or so is just barely shown at the top. The changes we made in 25+ years are pretty incredible. Fences have been moved, buildings have been torn down, added on to expanded and updated, trees have grown, been removed, fallen over.

We asked the Lord for a scripture before we got too far into this whole move thing, because we sure didn't want to do something ahead of His timing and He gave us Isaiah 55:12.
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.
It's not always been easy and sometimes it's been downright overwhelming but time and again in the past four months (really, for most of our lives) the Lord has been faithful and we are truly "going out with joy" and being "led forth in peace."

Now in 2013, to paraphrase Roger Miller, with no phone (land line that is), no pool, no pets, we're King and Queen of the Road! We put our home on the market in late June, traded our 30' Wildcat for a 35' Jayco Eagle, loaded it with the stuff we couldn't part with, and are living life on the road for a few years. Granted, we only made it as far as Wilsonville, about 12 miles, the first night out, but, hey, that's a start.

We're not sure where we're going, when we'll get there or how long we'll stay, what we'll see or what we'll eat, but we're ready. We know God has a plan for our lives and we're excited to see it unfold before us.

We'll keep you posted!
